Trolling Motor Guide
Match the thrust to your boat
Not sure how much motor you need? Slide to your boat’s length and we’ll point you to the minimum thrust, the battery system to run it and a starting shaft length.
- Battery system
- 12V
- Shaft length
- 42"
- Batteries
- 1 deep-cycle
A rule of thumb: about 2 lb of thrust for every 100 lb of fully-loaded boat, then size up for wind, current and a heavy load. These are general recommendations — bring in your boat and we’ll match the motor, batteries and shaft to it.
Three Ways to Move
Main power, kicker & electric
Most boats run a mix — a main outboard to get there, a kicker or electric to fish it. Here’s what each is for, and we’ll help you rig the combination that fits how you boat.
